Etude House Rosy Tint Lips collection came out last fall, well, Korea's fall. It was full of dark colours and it was matte, unsurprisingly I wanted them all. But so did everyone else as they were sold out for quite a while. As the cooler months rolled into New Zealand, I thought it the dark colours from this collection would be perfect and haul two colours that caught my eye, thankfully they were not sold out anymore.
I brought #7 Tea Rose and #8 After Blossom from Beautynetkorea.com for $19USD. It is a little pricier than retail but beautynetkorea has free shipping on all the products so it works out to a great deal in the end. For free shipping, the speed was fantastic. It arrived in just around 10 days! Other online stores average about 2 weeks and that's with paid shipping.
Aesthetically speaking the box design for these is by far, the best I've ever seen. Which is saying something since Asian cosmetics are well known for their pretty designs. The roses, the typography and the colour scheme, I get an artistic boner every time I look at these boxes.
Etude House description states " this velvet type Tint Lips comes with a soft delicate texture and rich colour to express lips of a rosy petal"
The rosy tint lips were one of the first cushion lip products to come out from last year's cushion craze. Not that it's dying down any time soon with new cushion foundation, cushion cheeks, cushion eyeliner yada yada coming out continuously.
It comes in a hard plastic tube storing 7g(0.24oz) of product with the colours of the tube matching the product inside. While the boxes are beautifully beautifully designed, the actual product design is horrendous. To get any product out, you need to squeeze ridiculously hard before anything comes out. There was a lot of straining to get anything out of these tubes. A lot of straining. It's practically a min work out.
Aside from the struggle of actually getting any product out, the application is a breeze thanks to it's cushion head. FYI the cushion is totally removable so you can easily take it off and give it a wash when it gets dirty. You can dab a little product in the center of your lips for that gradient look or apply it normally for full application. Etude House even suggests that this can work as a blush as well. Though I've never tried it.
One small con I have against this is that the actual colours for these tints are really light compare to the promo pictures. Tea Rose is suppose to be a pinky nude judging from the promo pics while After Blossom is suppose to be a deep burgundy. As you can see from the swatches below, they differ a lot from the advertisements. However I still love these colours. Tea Rose is a great MLBB nude while After Blossom is a light burgundy.
The rosy tints does have a matte finish as advertised. Unlike other matte products, it doesn't feel dry on your lips nor does it sit on your lips. It's a very comfortable wear actually. The formula of these is almost like a creamy lipstick rather than a tint. Because it's so creamy, you can spread it easily. The pigmentation is also great, what you see is what you get. You can lay it on lightly for a natural finish or layered it for a more full on effect. I find myself reaching for this many times since I've gotten this and it's easily become one of my favourite lip products in my collection.
Wear time is a few hours though eating obviously will shorten that time. Additionally light snacks won't affect the tint. Like the name suggests, it is a tint so once the initial colour has won off, you will get a nice stain left on your lips. It's a more obvious tint from After Blossom than from Tea Rose mainly due to the latter being more nude-ish.
Those who are sensitive to scented products should know that this does contain a rosy scent. It's not a heavy scent but it is consistently there. It's not obvious in the tube but once the product is outside the tube, the rosy scent is much more fragrant.
The lip swatches above are from one layer of the product, it gets darker with more layers. Especially After Blossom. But as you can see it's very natural looking and wearable on the lips. Actually the lip swatches came out lighter than real life so the best judgment for colour is probably the arm swatches above.
Once again mall caution for those who do want to try them, they posses a rosy scent and the colours will not be same as the advertisements. Also the squeeze tube tends to be very difficult to work with. Though, overall I'm in love with these rosy tint lips! Great colours, creamy, buildable and comfortable to wear. Did i mention the box designs are to die for? I'm actually planning on buying the rest of the collection just because I'm so impressed with the two I have right now.

Tea rose looks great on you! And what a shame about the burgundy one, I really liked the advertised color but that is too light for my tastes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading! You're my first comment <3333
DeleteYes I love tea rose, it's such a great nude colour. I don't think I did the lip swatches right though since After Blossom is darker in real life. You can also layer them which gets a darker colour but even then, its not as dark as the promo pic unfortunately :(
awww yey! What an honor :)
DeleteWell it looks great like a wash on you though!
