3 Concept Eyes Lip Lacquer in Showtime and Bubblegum

Yet another lip product review. I should really get onto doing some other reviews but, lip products are my Achilles heels, I just keep buying them. There's just so many colours and so many finishes! One of these days I'll post something different from lip products and blow everyone's minds!

I purchased these 2(?) months ago? I had all the swatches and pictures ready within a week but uni was killing me. Had 2 midterm tests on the same day, I slept an average of 3 hours a day last week. Exams also start in less than a month :(

Anyways onto the review! I'm too lazy to type out the description so I just copy and paste this from the official 3ce website.

As always 3ce products come in their famous simple black packaging. I've mentioned my love for their designs many times, it's really simple but so so sleek. I also love that they have colours on the packaging so you can easily pick out the colours you need.

I brought two colours, Bubblegum and Showtime. Originally wanted to buy Bon Bon, the most popular colour out of this line. But I guess everyone else wants Bon Bon as well since it's always sold out. No matter since I came out with two really great colours at the end. I have been on a purple coloured kick this past year so Bubblegum immediately jump out to me. Jen from fromheadtotoe mentioned Showtime in of her monthly favourites videos, it looked fabulous on her so I had to try it out.

The product comes in a square tube with a wand applicator. It's actually smaller than I had expected. It always seem larger in pictures, however in real life it's not as big. Application was quite easy because of the slated wand, but I found it hard to get precise lines, especially on the upper lip. However there's hardly any lip products which gives me precise lines out of the tube, most times I have to a separate lip brush for a defined lip.

Bubblegum:

Bubblegum

Bubblegum is a very vivid purple with bluish undertones. It's a really intense but fun colour. This isn't going to be a colour for every day wear but it is gorgeous nevertheless. I found that it really brightens up my face whenever I put this on. And hey, if you do want to wear it out, there's no one stopping you. Like most 3ce products, it's crazy pigmented. What you see in the tube is what you're going to get on your lips. One swipe is enough for full on colour.

Capturing this was really hard. What's on my lips in real life rarely shows up as the same on camera. If you want a true representation of Bubblegum, see the arm swatches on the bottom of this post.

Showtime:
Showtime

Showtime is can be described in one word: OMG.  It's a colour that takes you by surprise. It might seem perfectly normal in pictures but in real life, it's neon bright. No matter how many pictures I take, from whichever angle, it doesn't convey its intensity. The best I could describe it is, neon coral. Whenever I wear this and catch myself in the mirror, I'm always giving myself a shock. So be warn if you want to purchase this colour! Like Bubblegum, and the rest of the 3ce line, it only takes one swipe for full coverage. Though I did find Showtime to be just a tad sheer than Bubblegum.

What you see from these swatches, Showtime is 10x brighter in real life!

Swatches
The lip laqcuers lasted me a good 3-4 hours if I'm not drinking or eating. I could even eat a light meal without a lot of colours rubbing off! It leaves a strong stain after the initial colour wears off, though the stain colour is more muted. The lid also closes with a satisfactory click, gives a great peace of mind. One thing I don't like is, the lip lacquers never quite settle so it always manages to get onto my teeth and I have to check a few times after applying them.

Both apply creamy smooth at first but dries matte. It's a very comfortable wear, didn't feel any drying on the lips. Then again, I tend to slather my lips in vaseline these days so my lips aren't that dry areas in the first place. I've seen comparisons between these and NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams. Having tested both, I inclined to agree. The texture and feel is almost the same. However colour wise, 3ce lip lacquers have a bigger range while the NYX soft matte lip creams are safer colours. They're also cheaper. But since I live in New Zealand, everything just has one price tag-overpriced.

  • Comfortable to wear
  • Longevity
  • Vibratnt colours
  • Great pigmentation
  • Easy to apply

  • Colours a bit too intense for day to day wear
  • Application wand not good for precise lines.
  • Gets on teeth if not careful
